I love writing very meta articles. So here's 10 researched facts that apply to all LinkedIn Top Voice winners for 2018, interspersed with some of my favorite images and LinkedIn-related content and memes from this past year.
Thanks again to the amazing editorial team who selected me to win for LinkedIn Top Voice 2018 for my #DailyGoldie channel and of course, to the wonderful video team that has been encouraging all of us to be more creative. Here's a link to the list of all LinkedIn Top Voice winners for 2018. And the list of 10 Top Voice Winners in Marketing and Social Media.
Here’s 10 Top Voices facts and metrics. Please credit me if you use these in a post:
- 0.0003% of all LinkedIn members received a Top Voice award this year. It is only slightly 3x more likely that you will get Top Voice then be hit by a plane falling out of the sky (and in-arguably more pleasant).
- There are 342 Top Voices this year out of 590+ million members.
3. This is the fourth year for #LinkedInTopVoice - see the list from last year here.
4. Based on a combination of pure metrics (views and engagement) as well as quality of content and growth of followers tied to said content.
5. Content factored in was published between September 2017 - November 2018.
6. The number of #TopVoices is segmented into specialty & region. For example, I’ve landed in the Social Media and Marketing (woo-hoo!) category but there’s also Economy & Finance, Education, Healthcare, Management & Workplace, Retail, Technology, VC & Entrepreneurship, Influencer, and UK, India, France, and Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
7. There’s no submission process and no voting process - you have to create content that genuinely gets on the radar of regional and global LinkedIn editors.
8. LinkedIn and Microsoft employees are excluded from the selection.
9. There’s #LinkedInTopVoices and also Influencer Top Voices - the latter are widely-known celebrities who happen to create engaging content on LinkedIn.
10. Compared to all members sharing in 2018, the Top Voices received an average 7X more comments, 10X more likes and 5X more shares on their posts, articles and videos. They are also 2X times more likely to respond to comments or reply to another member’s post.
