Alight folks....I wanted to give you some lessons learned from the previous year! Here are 10! And remember, do not take shit from anyone....ever!!! Happy New Year!!!
Top 10 Lessons Learned In 2020
1. Surround Yourself With Successful People
You are not going to get to where you want to be hanging with people who are always negative or constantly complaining. I let go of many people around me this year, as we are no longer on the same page. And that is fine. You are going to have people that come into your life and you grow apart or change. That’s life. Get rid of the negative nellies!
2. You Are More Powerful Than You Realize
Most people give up at the sign of struggle or fear. You have much more power than you give yourself credit for. We are always looking for the external support or validation, but you have what you need in yourself. Believe in yourself fully. You have to believe 100% in yourself. Not 99.99% or 110%. Its 100% belief in yourself.
3. Stop Focusing On Other People
Many are always worried about what others are going to think when you do something. Its human nature to look for approval from others or be afraid of what others think. You should only care what you think about. Period. Its easier said than done, as it takes practice every day to rewire yourself to not give a shit about what others think. The sooner you can do that, the better you will be.
4. Focus And Obsession
You have to be focused on what you are doing. And to do that, you need to have a healthy obsession with whatever it is you are doing. If you are a doctor, you have to wake up every day wanting to help people. You can’t wait to get out of bed. In my travels, I see so many zombies out there, people just going through the motions and posting it on Facebook that its Monday…or its almost Friday. If you are not feeling focused and have a healthy obsession, then you need to change that shit immediately.
5. Stop The Time Wasters
Let’s face it, we all waste time. But there is too much time being wasted. There are days where you hit the snooze button 20 times, or you watch videos on YouTube thinking that you are doing something. The sooner you realize you are not focusing on what you need to and you are wasting your time, cut that shit off immediately. Again, this takes practice as its easier to say…”oh the weather is rainy so I am not going to the gym today. I’ll just go tomorrow.” The sooner you catch yourself with the time wasters and change your focus, you will get to where you need to be sooner.
6. Money Management
Many people are living pay check to pay check. I see it every day. I hear it every day. You need to track your spending daily, weekly, monthly. And you need to create the discipline to not spend excessively. It’s ok to splurge once in a while, but not every single weekend. The items you buy will only make you feel good in the moment. You won’t feel good seeing your bills out of hand.
7. Perfection Equals Paralysis
You have to pull the trigger and go for it. There is never a perfect time. It’s not always going to fall into place neatly. Some of you have been out there saying you are going to start doing videos or writing blogs. Yet here we are almost at 2020, and you said the same thing last year. Three years ago I was terrified to do a video. I waited six months to do it. I lost a ton of time. Why? I wanted it to be perfect. I have learned that the process and journey is much more fun than waiting for perfection. Just get out there and screw shit up. Make shitty videos. Once you start, you are doing better than 90% of the people. Watch what others do. Just start doing!
8. Again, Taking Action Is Not Reading Books And Posting Cute Quotes
We need to all learn and grow. But constantly reading and not taking any action is not going to make you successful. You will feel a rush of energy when you are reading the next greatest book, but how many books can you read? There really isn’t anything new or a new way. Most of the stuff out there is repackaged. I see many people saying that they posted some status update and they took action by telling people. Um…no. Put the book down, turn the YouTube video off, and go start now!
9. Give Without Asking
Giving and then expecting something in return has become the new norm. You won’t be successful or happy when you do something for someone, and then expect something in return. Now, its important to recognize and be aware of how much you do for someone so you do not get taken advantage of. If you give enough, people will be there for you when it counts. Don’t expect to get something when you give. That’s not what its all about.
10. Stop Taking Things Personal
People are going to say and do stuff that is going to drive you nuts. But you cannot control what other people say and do. You can only control what you take from it. When you condition yourself to stop taking shit personal, things change so much for you for the better. This one takes practice because its easy to take things to heart. Most of the time the people saying or doing something that drives you nuts are insecure or have major issues going on in their life. Take a minute and think about what they could be going through and not worry about it.
BONUS
Be grateful for what you have. There are always others who are in a worse spot than you. And honestly, you really do not have it that bad. You often make it worse in your mind. Be grateful for the things you have for one day, it might be gone.
Happy New Year!!!! And please share if you have enjoyed this!
