The Top 10
Looking for a fresh start in 2025? Start your job search here: We’ve got the top 10 emerging roles in the new year. Listings for these positions have surged in popularity, according to data from the employment company Indeed , and the rankings may surprise you.?
“In previous years we’ve seen tech jobs in the spotlight,” says Jennifer Herrity , an Indeed career coach. “But this list really highlights the need for traditional and essential professions.”
Leading the way is behavioral analyst, which saw a 383% increase in job postings compared to last year. (In case you’re not familiar, this is a type of psychology-focused clinician who treats both children and adults.) This reflects the wider recognition of the “importance of mental health,” which really came to the fore during the pandemic, Herrity tells us.
The list also features roles that some feared would be threatened by the rise of A.I., like insurance broker (up 346%) and paralegal (up 298%). That shows there’s still a need for a human touch: “While A.I. is able to carry out many of the technical functions of these jobs, they still require soft skills like effective communication and adaptability,” Herrity says.?
While some of these roles, like vascular surgeon, certainly require specialized degrees and years of training, Herrity adds that many of them are positions that could be filled by “jobseekers with non-traditional backgrounds,” whose previous experience may not exactly align with the opening.?
So if you’re on the hunt for a new gig, now’s a good time to “leverage your transferable skills and look at entry-level roles that could direct you into these emerging fields,” she says.?
Menopause Moves Into the Workplace
Another trend we’re expecting to see in 2025 is the growth of menopause benefits, according to the experts at LinkedIn .?

“Women make up nearly half of the workforce in the U.S., but until very recently, all talk of menopause at work was taboo,” says Jessi Hempel , LinkedIn’s senior editor-at-large. “Women concealed symptoms, powered through insomnia, and fought back brain fog largely on their own.”?
A survey of nearly 3,000 women found that the vast majority had hidden their symptoms at work at least once. And that’s led to a massive productivity drain, costing American companies approximately $1.8 billion a year, according to the Mayo Clinic.
That’s why Hempel tells us that companies are beginning to step up and offer support like flexible working arrangements and health benefits that cover hormone-replacement therapy. “Organizations have begun waking up to the fact that destigmatizing menopause can help their bottom line, too,” Hempel says.?
