Top 10 Biblical Principles to Stimulate Giving in Your Church Capital Campaign

The most effective way to achieve outstanding financial results in your church’s capital campaign is by teaching your congregation what the Bible says about money and stewardship.

As a longtime pastor, I witnessed this firsthand.

During my annual stewardship series and in the three consecutive church capital campaigns I led in my own church, I saw how God’s word transformed people into generous givers in just a matter of weeks.

Here is a list of the top ten most powerful, generosity-inspiring truths, along with the Scriptures, that I included in every church capital campaign preaching series.

1.??? God owns all your money.

Psalm 24:1“The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, the world, and those who dwell in it.”

2.??? God enabled you to earn all your money.

Deuteronomy 8:17-18“Otherwise, you may say in your heart, ‘My power and the strength of my hand made me this wealth.’ But you shall remember the Lord your God, for it is He who is giving you power to make wealth, that He may confirm His covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.”

3.??? As stewards of God's money, you have a responsibility to be faithful with it.

1 Corinthians 4:2“In this case, moreover, it is required of stewards that one be found trustworthy.”

4.??? Everyone, even the poorest, can and should give generously.

2 Corinthians 8:1-3“Now, brethren, we wish to make known to you the grace of God which has been given in the churches of Macedonia, that in a great ordeal of affliction their abundance of joy and their deep poverty overflowed in the wealth of their liberality. For I testify that according to their ability, and beyond their ability, they gave of their own accord.”

5.??? Generous giving flows out of a prior devotion to God and to your spiritual leaders.

2 Corinthians 8:5“And this, not as we had expected, but they first gave themselves to the Lord and to us by the will of God.”

6.??? Giving should be proportionate to your prosperity.

1 Corinthians 16:2“On the first day of every week each one of you is to put aside and save, as he may prosper, so that no collections be made when I come.”

7.??? Giving will make you happier.

Acts 20:35“In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’”

?8.??? Giving will deepen your spiritual commitment.

Matthew 6:21“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

?9.??? Giving will bring financial blessings.

Proverbs 3:9-10“Honor the Lord from your wealth and from the first of all your produce; so your barns will be filled with plenty and your vats will overflow with new wine.”

?10. ?Giving will earn eternal rewards.

Matthew 6:19-20“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal.”

God promises that His Word will accomplish its purpose in our lives (Isaiah 55:11).

When you teach your congregation the biblical principles of giving, God will move in their hearts, inspiring generosity in ways that will amaze you.

Wouldn't it be wonderful to be amazed by your church’s capital campaign giving?
