For manufacturers delivering services, a skills shortage can be particularly challenging. Additionally, the sudden and dynamic transformation to digital services may exacerbate the difficulties in retaining, recruiting, and finding the right talent within a short period of time to meet evolving needs.
?? When does the skill gap occur?
A skills gap occurs when there is a mismatch between the skills that businesses need to sell and deliver to customers and the skills possessed by the talent that is looking for a job. In today’s job market, this gap is highlighted in field services, where the demand for adequately skilled staff has started to surpass supply due to:
? An ageing workforce and the retirement of experienced technicians
? A shortage of millennials who aren’t keen on finding a job
