What Top 10 Trends Are Predicted for A-Beauty by AI?

Generative AI tools like ChatGPT have surely been creating buzz. So, we did an experiment to see what ChatGPT would predict for A-Beauty this year.

We tried a super simple prompt, and it came up with a reasonable list. The good news for customers is that we are ahead of these trends and can supply you with ingredients, starting formulations and development support.

1. Bioactive & Functional Ingredients

Australian consumers are becoming increasingly ingredient-savvy, prioritising clinically backed and bioactive ingredients with proven results. Expect to see:

  • Barrier-boosting formulas with ceramides, niacinamide, and fermented extracts to support the skin microbiome.
  • Adaptogenic skincare featuring ingredients like Kakadu Plum, Tasmanian Pepperberry, and Davidson Plum to counteract environmental stress.
  • DNA repair and longevity skincare using NAD+, peptides, and exosome technology to promote cellular renewal.

2. The Rise of Menopause Skincare

With an ageing population and a growing conversation around hormonal health, menopause and perimenopause-specific skincare will gain traction. This includes:

  • Formulations targeting collagen loss, hydration, and sensitivity.
  • Phytoestrogen-infused products to help counteract hormonal changes.
  • Brands incorporating education and community into their marketing to support this underserved audience.

3. Blue Beauty & Ocean-Friendly Formulations

Sustainability remains top of mind, but blue beauty, which focuses on protecting marine ecosystems will take centre stage in 2025. Expect:

  • Biodegradable formulations without microplastics or marine-toxic chemicals.
  • Sunscreens that are reef-safe but still provide effective UV protection.
  • Sustainable packaging innovations like algae-based bioplastics and refillable glass bottles.

4. Skinimalism & Multi-Tasking Products

Consumers are moving away from overloaded 10-step routines in favour of simplified, highly effective products. In 2025, expect:

  • Hybrid skincare-makeup (e.g., tinted SPF with skincare benefits, vitamin C-infused foundations).
  • Two-in-one treatments, like moisturisers with built-in serums or probiotic face mists that, also act as toners.
  • A resurgence of solid beauty bars (cleansing, moisturising, and SPF bars) for a waterless, eco-friendly approach.

Tech-driven beauty is expanding, and AI-powered personalisation will play a significant role in 2025. This includes:

  • Custom skincare formulations based on AI skin scans.
  • Smart beauty devices that analyse hydration levels, sun exposure, and barrier function in real time.
  • AI-powered ingredient recommendations for skincare shopping online.

6. Australian Native Botanicals on the Global Stage

The world is taking notice of Australia’s unique, potent botanicals. In 2025, expect:

  • Indigenous-led beauty brands incorporating ethical harvesting and traditional knowledge.
  • Global interest in native actives like Finger Lime Caviar, Lemon Myrtle, and Quandong for their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and brightening benefits.
  • Brands focusing on biotechnology to extract and stabilise native botanicals for longer-lasting potency.

7. Skin Tech & At-Home Devices

Advanced skincare tools and home-based treatments will continue to gain popularity. Expect:

  • LED masks with infrared therapy for deep collagen stimulation.
  • Microcurrent devices to mimic professional treatments like skin tightening.
  • DIY cryotherapy and skin-cooling gadgets to reduce inflammation and puffiness.

8. The Sunscreen Evolution: More Than Just SPF

Suncare will go beyond just protection, incorporating:

  • Antioxidant-rich sunscreens to combat pollution and digital blue light.
  • Tinted mineral SPFs with skincare benefits, such as hydration and redness reduction.
  • Serum-textured sunscreens that feel weightless but provide broad-spectrum protection.
