In October, Toonsquare announced a new leap forward in the creative field by successfully launching the beta version of Tooning World, it’s webtoon platform where anyone can become a webtoon creator, in North America.

"Toonsquare utilized it’s self-developed generative AI webtoon authoring tool Tooning Studio to release webtoons in various categories on Tooning World, and achieved a successful beta launch in the North American market with more than 1.2 million visitors and payment conversions. Currently, Toonsquare is planning to overhaul the website for it’s official opening and launch Android and IOS apps in the first half of next year.

All webtoon series found on Tooning World were created using Tooning Studio, a webtoon authoring tool that utilizes AI to easily create characters and backgrounds for webtoons. Its main features include 3D pose composition, background generation, speech bubbles, and effects, making it easy for anyone to become a webtoon creator. The company is also developing automatic webtoon translation software for Tooning World’s global launch and is preparing to introduce translation features simultaneously in 200 countries.

"Through the launch of this beta version, we will quickly understand the tastes of the global market and will work to streamline the production of content in genres and topics that are predicted to be successful," said Lee Ho-young, CEO of Toonsquare. He continued, "we developed AI technology and optimization systems by recruiting webtoon writers for global targets and analyzing their web novel > webtoon > movie/dramatization work process. The final goal is to shorten the production time for web novel and webtoon creators by more than five times compared how long it takes now.”

He added that through the platform, the company is looking into a system that predicts in advance a series’ “hit” or box office potential according to country and target.

Throughout the beta version testing, Toonsquare promoted Tooning World to secure IPs from potential writers who dream of making their webtoon debut, and secured 100 competitive IPs on a first-come, first-served basis. Targeting the first half of next year, Toonsquare will produce the 100 secured IPs through Tooning Studio and release the results on a full app version in secondary target countries including Japan.

Toonsquare's recently developed Tooning Studio authoring tool is being provided for internal use to contracted writers and partner webtoon studios. In addition, Toonsquare provides Tooning Magic AI as an authoring tool for the general public, which allows users to create high-resolution images by selecting or entering prompts based on generative AI technology, as well as Tooning Editor, which users can use to combine and edit elements such as speech bubbles with just a click. In particular, patent applications for Tooning Magic AI were submitted in 27 countries in June and has been recognized for its potential to lower the barrier to entry for generative AI by being launched to the general public.
