Tools
I take tools ultra seriously. No compromise. You should too.
The difference between a good tool and a badass tool is not just 10x productivity in existing actions & processes, but a faster and a smarter tool changes the nature of your tasks.
With a badass tool you are not just doing same activities fasters. You start doing different activities altogether.
We moved our project and task management to Linear. It has helped me and Ercan Ozer get into flow state with organizing the 100 different tasks, thoughts, intuition and reactions rapidly and cohesively. Overall, it's a badass tool.
Anytime this happens, I am reminded of this wonderful quote that summed it up for me:
"A man and his tools make a man and his trade.” - Vita Sackville-West.
I still relish the early days of my careers going deep into #emacs, the joy of building my coding environment from ground up and the compounding productivity it unleashed across platforms and computers. I still use for coding / text editing, when I get a chance.
The flow state is when your fingers start moving faster than your thoughts. If you ever wondered why some people still use a 45 years old editors like emacs and #vim (or neovim) for prime time coding, now you know.
PS: AI Copilot works well with both vim and emacs
