Too much shit to do? Let's rewrite the script.

Too much shit to do? Let's rewrite the script.

Raise your hand if you've ever felt like you're carrying the weight of the world on your shoulders. ??♂?

Yeah, been there, done that. Life's script sometimes hands us way more responsibilities than we signed up for.

But guess what? We have the power to rewrite it.

At my first job out of undergrad, I was constantly on the move, attending events, meeting with clients and creating content. Just one year on the job and I had already taught myself how to code, designed over forty websites, crafted two e-learning programs for national organizations, developed dozens of print materials, and remarkably transformed an empty warehouse the size of Costco into a two-day sports themed leadership extravaganza experience.

I knew that if I wanted to make a lasting impact, I needed to be proactive and take some risks. And so, I became the change I wanted to see in my workplace.

Cue the dramatic music, please. Thank you.

It all came to a head at the biggest work event of the season. There I was, running on fumes after turning that warehouse into a dazzling spectacle.

My mission: to attend the event and create a promo video for next year. No biggie, right?

Well, my panic attack begged to differ.

I don’t know if you’ve ever had a panic attack in front of 4,000 high school students and 20 of your co-workers, but it’s not super fun. Not at all.

As nonprofit professionals, it feels like we're expected to wear multiple hats, juggle a dozen tasks, and still have room for that elusive thing called work-life balance.

The pressure to do it all can be overwhelming, leaving us feeling like we're on a hamster wheel with no exit.

But here's the secret: You don't have to do it all alone. You're not a one-person superhero squad. And no, you're not letting anyone down by asking for help.

Remember, even superheroes have sidekicks, and together, they conquer the world.

So, how do you tackle responsibilities without feeling like you’re drowning? It's time to rewrite the script.

Start by acknowledging that asking for help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Delegate tasks that others can handle, and focus your energy on the areas where your superpowers truly shine.

Remember, your impact isn't determined by the number of tasks you check off, but by the meaningful work you do with intention.

So, rewrite that script, drop the cape (unless it's a cool Halloween costume), and start building a team that shares your mission.

In your corner,

Cody

P.S. Remember, your worth isn't measured by how much you do, but by the
