Too Many People Believe *Losing Weight Equals Being Healthy* DO THIS Instead!

Improving Your Health So You Can Lose Weight: A Busy Professional's Playbook

Too many people believe *losing weight equals being healthy*… as a society we need to flip that on its head to actually take control of our body and maintain a high quality of life with a body that's not going to break down on us!?

I teach my clients and members of our Fit4Life community that it is far more important to focus on BECOMING HEALTHY so they can THEN lose the weight and keep it off for good.?

Here is how you can put your focus on BECOMING HEALTHIER by improving each of these “essential habits” to help you live healthy and help build a leaner and stronger body without feeling overwhelmed!

Essential Habit#1: Exercise and Activity

The first area to look at is your exercise and activity habits. If you are someone who has never exercised before or has been out of practice for a while, then starting with just 10 minutes a day is a great way to begin.?

You can gradually increase the amount of time you exercise as you begin to feel more comfortable. You don’t *HAVE* to join a gym or buy fancy equipment, either.?

Working out with weights at home is one of the greatest ways to save time and still hit your healthy and fitness goals.?

You start a cascade of events that increase production of essential hormones and other biological processes that extend your life and burn up excess body fat when you exercise and express yourself physically.?

Essential Habit#2: Sleep and Recovery

Another important factor in becoming healthy and losing weight is making sure you are getting enough sleep and recovery. When you don’t get enough sleep, your body starts to crave unhealthy foods and your metabolism slows down.?

Aim for at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night [Pro Tip!? Try to avoid working out too late so that you can wind down and relax before bedtime].?

In addition, active recovery days are just as important as days when you are working out hard. On your active recovery days, do some light stretching, foam rolling, or take a walk or do some gentle yoga flows. This will help your body recover from the harder workouts while still keeping your metabolism going.

Essential Habit#3: Stress Management

Chronic stress can lead to weight gain, destroy our energy and break our bodies down, so it’s important to find ways to manage stress effectively. Some good stress-busting activities include meditation, light to moderate exercise, deep breathing exercises, journaling, spending time in nature, and my favorite… getting regular massages.?

When you can manage stress better, you will be less likely to turn to food for comfort and more likely to make healthier choices for your body overall.?

Stress is something that comes with life, but staying ahead of the accumulation of stress before it derails us is a high-performance tip that can really take your life to the next level!

Essential Habit#4: Eating and Consumption Habits

Finally, take a close look at your eating and consumption habits. Are you eating processed foods? Lots of sugar? Alcohol? These things can all sabotage your efforts to live healthy and lose weight.?

Look at how you are affecting your body through what you eat. Is your food leaving you tired? Is it leaving you craving more sweet and high calorie foods? It is giving you gas or bloating? Reducing or eliminating foods that are working against you in this way gives you a HUGE advantage over people who just stop eating food in an attempt to “lose weight to get healthy”.

Instead, focus on eating whole foods like fruits, high-fiber vegetables, lean protein, healthy fats, and complex carbohydrates. And be sure to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day!

Losing weight doesn’t have to be difficult or feel like deprivation if you focus on becoming healthy first by taking control of a few essential habits.?

By improving your exercise habits, getting enough sleep and recovery, managing stress better, and making healthier food choices, you will not only improve your overall health but also lose that unwanted weight and live a higher quality life.?
