Too Dirty To Take A Bath

Too Dirty To Take A Bath

One of the greatest challenges when starting meditation is the simple act of sitting still. The moment we attempt it, a flood of thoughts arises, and before long, a single thought consumes our attention. The meditation ends before it even truly begins.

There are two key lessons to take from this:

  1. The harder it is to meditate, the more you need it. The restlessness of your mind is a sign that it craves stillness. Meditation helps bring order to this chaos, enabling you to find peace and alleviate suffering.
  2. Start small and build up. Begin by meditating for just five minutes at a time, then gradually increase to 10, 15, and so on. The goal is to eventually integrate mindfulness into every part of your life, dissolving the boundary between formal practice and your daily activities.

Many people say meditation doesn't work for them, but often, they simply haven’t started properly to experience the benefits. Remember, meditation is a personal journey. What works for one person may not work for another because everyone’s conditioning is unique. Even if we grow up in similar environments, our internal experiences are different. That’s why you don’t need a guru for meditation. You are your own best teacher, as you alone understand your mind and can observe its transformation over time.

Saying meditation is "not for me" is like saying you're "too dirty to take a bath." In this era of constant social media distractions and rampant narcissism, meditation offers a much-needed sanctuary like nothing else.

Happy meditating!

Well said on consistency
