A few years ago, a Netflix special came out about Tony Robbins called, "I Am Not Your Guru." The title is so compelling because I'm sure he's actually been referred to as a "guru" a million times. However, getting labeled something you don't want to be known for is tough. On a much, MUCH smaller scale, I can relate to Tony...
Everyone on LinkedIn thinks I'm a resume writer.
Every single day, amazing professionals here on LinkedIn message me and ask if I will do their resumes for them. I'm honored they think of me. And, I get it. They see me share lots of career advice on the platform and assume that's what I do for a living. But, it's not. In fact, I don't encourage the use of a resume writer because I prefer people save money and learn the right way to do their own resumes.
Attached is what I send people when they message me... (but, PLEASE keep reading/scrolling below so you can learn why I'm so passionate about clarifying this point!)
It's really important to me that people understand technology is now making it possible for us to solve your career problems more efficiently and cost-effectively. In this day and age, it shouldn't only be the wealthy or pro athletes who can afford quality coaching to get ahead in their careers.
That's why my No. 1 mission is to DISRUPT the career coaching industry in 2020.
Our company is growing 20%+ month over month. Every day, more and more workers are finding us and realizing they don't have to go it alone in their careers. Instead, they can become part of a team of like-minded professionals and get coached by top career trainers at a fraction of the cost of using "traditional" career coaching. Gone are the days where you need to spend 100s, sometimes 1000s of dollars on a resume writer or career coach. Online platforms like Work It Daily are making it possible for anyone who wants help to get access to it. We have thousands of members in over sixteen countries. We expect to have over 100,000 members within 2 years. And, with that will come the opportunity (this is the part where we will actually get to be like Tony Robbins), to change the world. Here's how...
When 100,000+ businesses-of-one finally come together, they (a/k/a YOU), will have incredible power.
There's a saying in the franchise business,
"You're in business for yourself,
but not by yourself."
What that means is when you join a franchise group you get all the benefits of being your own boss, while also getting all the benefits of accessing the resources and successful strategies of a big business. The same thing is going to happen to all the members of Work It Daily. When we get 100,000+ career-minded professionals together inside a powerful, private social network that isn't filled with advertisements and unsolicited sales pitches, imagine what we'll be able to do!? No more distractions. Just pure, positive exchanges of information, resources, and strategies. We're already seeing its impact now. With every new member we get, the power gets stronger. Here's one example...
We've reimagined how networking should work.
Most people find networking to a be a chore. Unfortunately, in today's working world where every job is temporary, your network is your net worth in your career. You can't afford not to network. But, A) who has the time? And, B) who knows how to do it well? The solution lies in being part of a micronet. A small online community of like-minded professionals who team up to help each other level-up. Similar to industry associations, these groups are effective because the people who join them understand you've got to give to get. The result? People move past the awkward introduction stage and jump right in to the good stuff where they exchange ideas and offer to help each other. We have dozens of these groups forming organically inside Work It Daily, giving new members an instant place to go and make new connections.
Our next big step? Partnering with employers looking to meet the top talent inside our platform.
In the coming months, our B2B division will start to reveal partnerships with top employers who are letting us document what it's like to work at their companies. Essentially, we'll be giving Work It Daily members the ability to "shop" for their next employer. Making the employers come to them, instead of the other way around. I'll be revealing more about how that works in the coming months - so stay tuned!
If you made it this far in the post, THANK YOU for letting me share what I really do for a living. I hope the above makes sense and inspires you to think about how technology could be helping you advance your career.
P.S. If you don't think my company's career coaching membership site is for you (yet).
