Safeguarding Your People & Organization: Helping you with Situational Awareness Training, Terrorism Awareness Workshops, Risk Management & Self-Defence Training
The most important video you should watch before checking into your hotel
And its only a couple of minutes long
This short clip was taken from a short training course on travel safety
A safer way of getting in and out of your car
This is an interesting one as I often get a lot of comments if this is posted on social media. Not all of course are kind, polite or helpful but that comes with sticking your head above the parapet.
Most of the critical comments say things like that wouldn’t stop me I could still beat her or pull her out. Well yes that’s possibly true but in self-defence and situational awareness we are trying to avoid confrontation and increase your chances of survival.
The principle here is not to leave one leg in and 1 out but to move both legs together. This gives you the opportunity to use both legs to kick off an attacker without the possibility of them trapping you by closing the door on 1 leg. If you don’t think this has any power lay with your back on the floor resting on your elbows, bring both knees to your chest and kick a heavy bag or someone with a kick shield.
Nothing is fool proof.
Even in countries where firearms are permitted there is the issue of open or concealed carry, draw times and safe discharge under stress and in crowded places.
Anything that increases your chances of not becoming the victim or surviving if an incident occurs is a good idea.
It is often the case that you survive not because of 1 great principle or technique but because of 10 small things that you did.
Institute of Strategic Risk Management - Urban Resilience and Major City Management
As a Fellow of the institute of Strategic Risk Management it was a pleasure to attend this great level 5 course.
Staying up top date with changes and information is one of the biggest benefits I get from the institutes I belong to. I have been with the Chartered Institute Of Management for about 30 years and joined the Security Institute about 6 years ago.
I find the memberships, research facilities and the updates they provide useful in staying aware of latest updates which can be more challenging when working as an independent consultant than when I was in the corporate sector.

Away Time
I have been away training MuayThai in the land of smiles (Thailand).
Training martial arts for 50 years I often surprise people when I tell them that when away I get up early each day, have something to eat and then jump on my scooter to head off to the gym for about 8am.
I love the training and constantly challenging yourself, which is not easy as you get older, and of course the camaraderie and friendship that training provides.
Its then back to the villa for some food and rest before jumping on the pc and catching up with the admin that comes with running two businesses before getting ready for training once again.
Would I change it, no never I am very lucky to love what I do and have great people around me.
