Safeguarding Your People & Organization: Helping you with Situational Awareness Training, Terrorism Awareness Workshops, Risk Management & Self-Defence Training
???? 1st let me wish all my subscribers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I am very aware that the majority of my work comes off the back of some form of incident or tragedy so I just wanted people to know I'm not always all doom and gloom.
Unfortunately most organisations are not proactive in supporting the personal security and safety of their people. As someone who spent many years at a senior level in the corporate sector I know this isn't because of an evil capitalist approach to employees that is sometimes suggested in the media. More often than not its because everyone already has too much to do, with immediate issues that need solving and addressing.
That is why I sometimes feel like the grim reaper arriving at an office following an incident that has brought personal security to the attention of everyone across the organisation. That could be a terrorist incident, a mugging, sexual assault or any one of the many issues that can arise unexpectantly.
Simple Travel Lock
If you have been following me for a while and reading my posts on LinkedIn or videos on YouTube then you will have seen that I often talk about how a simple doorstop can significantly increase your personal security.
This is a short clip on a different type of device that I like to put in a travel bag. Some doors just don't suit a doorstop especially if you travel off the beaten track a little.
The device in the video is the Lifeventure Howsarlock and I have used it for years. The two pieces are supposed to be connected so you don't lose one half but that broke early on without affecting its use.
1st Speaking Engagement for 2024
I am really excited to have been invited to speak at the 2nd Annual Counter Terrorism Conference for the Institute of Government & Public Policy. If you would like to attend then you can use the code to get a 25% discount on tickets.
Happy Place

Running two businesses can be difficult but its also very rewarding. I have just returned from taking a group to Thailand to train in MuayThai or Thai Boxing. Thailand is my 'Happy Place' and allows me to rejuvenate and be ready for the year ahead.
Be Merry at Christmas and New Year - BUT...
Be aware the effects drink may have on your decision making.
As Christmas parties and drinks return remember that how you get home should be part of that plan.
Taking a taxi should be a safe option. However that relies on the driver themselves and if they are not even a genuine regulated taxi that is a serious red flag.
How many people check when getting a taxi that the drivers details and licence is displayed and are correct.
Who takes a picture on their smartphone of that and sends it to family or friends. If you know you are going to party, then where possible pre-book with a recognised taxi company.
As always being on your own significantly increases your risk profile. Being in a group of friends or colleagues is always a good idea. Situational awareness training is something that you should use constantly at all times. Being aware of who and what is going on around you however becomes limited as alcohol increases and defences decrease.
