Tongue Abcess

Tongue abcess: We present a rare case of tongue abcess of a 39 Y female patient. The patient was seen by a number of ENT specialists following her frequent complaint of difficulty in swallowing, odd smell in her throat. She was miss diagnosed as throat infection. She was given Antibiotics but it did not resolve the issue. She was rushed to ER when the patient was unable to swallow / breathe. Following clinical examination confirmed by MRI with contrast, diagnosis was reached i.e large abcess occupying the posterior part of the tongue and extending to the para pharyngeal area.
