Tomorrow's Airport Experience
I have spent the last 6 weeks going to over a half dozen airports across this great country. Large to small and all in between. We are in a great movement of growth within airports. A path of new and exciting innovations and concepts. The idea of each location was to try to capitalize on the favor of that city. The look of the airport, concession concepts, music, and food all spoke to that idea. What about the people? It is the people who are the final pieces in making those local city concepts come to life. How they engage and tell stories is the key to making people feel at home, that airport home.
Tomorrow's innovators balance technology with people. Airports and all its entities are there to make traveling an experience, not just the airlines. Have you ever noticed that as soon as you step foot on a plane, the goal is to make that flight as relaxing as possible. From the smiles you get by the attendance at the entrance, to how they interact with you when they service you with drinks, till the time you walk off. Can you say that to all the interactions you see prior? There are Rental car agents, wheelchair attendants, TSA, Concessions, Custodians, Security, and more. My travels have taught me that we have the right stuff to make airports and destinations one concept. Blur the lines between airports and the final destination of travelers.
