Tom Sherwood of Koios talks Emotionally Intelligent AI

Hello and welcome to Conversational AI News here on LinkedIn. The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noticed that this week I've published a fantastic interview with Tom Sherwood , CEO of Koios AI .

It is a real privilege to be able to sit down and discuss the future of conversational AI with experts such as Tom.

Tom was a key enabler for our first Conversational AI Mini Summit last month and I am grateful to him and the Koios team for their support.

For those who made it to the event, you'll already have a good overview of the rather compelling capabilities that Koios brings to the market.

But if you didn't make the summit -- well, this is why I did the podcast with Tom.

The quick summary on Koios is that the company does fantastically detailed voice analysis to rapidly map out personality traits that can help AIs correctly and effectively respond to you (text, voice or otherwise).

Tom gives some awesome examples during the interview - highlighting how a customised approach to every interaction is likely to be much better received by one person (depending on their personality characteristics) than another.

This is something I definitely recognise.

Too often I'm getting the same impersonal nonsense from the AIs I'm interacting with. Two months ago it was breathtaking -- because I was deeply impressed at the level of interactive capability employed by these LLMs.

Now it's flipping annoying. Now it's verbal tripe, a lot of it.

That's because it just doesn't understand me. ME. It's not 'coded' to what I want.

And this, dear reader, is yet another milestone in the development of this fascinating marketplace of conversational AI.

It's one thing to be able to accurately respond to me -- it's another thing to adjust that response to my precise expectations, preferences and traits. One person might love detail. The other person might want just the facts.

Doesn't matter.

The LLM is going to feed you the default response.

Until that is, you push it through the Koios engine.

Anyway, have a listen to the interview and if you'd like to talk with Tom and team, I'd encourage you to reach out -- get him on LinkedIn or via the website at www.getkoios.ai.

Here are some of the takeaways from the discussion:

  • Emotionally intelligent AI can enhance human interactions
  • Voice analysis can reveal personality traits effectively
  • Recruitment processes can benefit from personality insights
  • Sales strategies can be tailored based on personality understanding
  • Koios uses acoustic and linguistic data for analysis
  • The business model is based on API calls for analysis
  • Human-machine interaction is evolving with AI advancements
  • Understanding the human element is crucial in AI development
  • AI can help scale coaching and training in organisations
  • Future applications may include personalised virtual coaching

Thanks again for participating Tom!

I'll be back with more Conversational AI updates very soon.

Thank you for the insightful article. What if we approached AI with more empathy by combining sentiment analysis, NLP, and facial recognition to understand human emotions ? AI could engage more compassionately, offering deeper, more meaningful interactions with humans ??
