Tom and Sawyer
CHAPTER 1
Tom is studying in an education program.
From the day he was enrolled, he was lucky enough to have some of the best instructors in the world. Whenever Tom has any difficulty grasping some concept, they are always ready to help, have the whole world’s patience for him, and won’t mind repeating the instruction until he understands. Some of the instructors are there for him almost on a 247 basis. Also, his peers are very helpful and always engage him in their studies, which fosters a mutually-beneficial environment.
He is exposed to a variety of teaching methods, is welcome to participate in all kinds of educational activities, and gets involved in all sorts of group work designed to develop his skills in this program.
The program can a bit intense as Tom is exposed to a huge number of topics in this field. Everyday there is something new, and he is studying both in class and in his spare time. Literally a full-time student, he doesn’t have a weekend available to students in other programs, and can’t take one day off or go on a vacation and completely forget about his study. He is constantly studying, except in his sleep. Encouraged and motivated, Tom is learning fast. In a short matter of a few years, he has mastered so much that he has evolved from someone who knows nothing to a reasonably well-trained student who can manage to have an effective conversation about basic concepts in this field.
Ten years’ relentless training later, Tom has learned a lot, but he also knows there is a whole world out there in this field that he is yet to explore and understand. He is still confused about advanced theories and complicated topics in this field, and still gets lost easily as when senior students talk about things he doesn’t understand, but he is not giving up. He is learning, and growing, every day.
By the way, when Tom was enrolled in this program, he was a new-born baby. Now he is 10.
This field, of course or otherwise, is language.
CHAPTER 2
Sawyer, Tom’s buddy, is studying translation and interpretation.
He ONLY needs to double Tom’s efforts to complete the basic level of this program.
CHAPTER 3
This is an ongoing program…
