Tom Martin Media Presents

“If you have the right attitude, the right mindset, that ‘can-do attitude’ – if you have the right tools, training, and attitude, there's nothing you can't achieve in life.”

– Victoria Essner, Caregiving Expert

Hello – and welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter! I’m excited to tell you about the very first episode of “Tom Martin Media Presents,” a new podcast series featuring interviews with authors, experts, speakers, and coaches (and those working with important non-profit organizations) – people driven by their passion to make a difference in the world. Through each episode, I aim to introduce you to some extraordinary people who have crossed my path over the years, tapping their wisdom to share tips and insights that may make a difference in your life!?

In each episode, I will encourage my guests to tell us about their unique journey and how they found opportunities to impact the world. I’m excited, in Episode #1 of this new podcast series, about introducing you to my remarkable friend Victoria Essner, who shares with us how she has refused to let some significant challenges stand in her way. Despite being visually impaired and having faced several other daunting obstacles, Victoria has refused to let anything prevent her from caring for her beloved husband, Robert, who is now in hospice care. A dedicated veteran, Robert’s health has declined precipitously over the past ten years, forcing Victoria to find ways to care for him effectively and lovingly despite many initial hurdles – including the fact that she is visually impaired. Victoria also found ways of tapping into a truly empowered mindset so that their precious time together could be positive, with minimum stress, worry and exhaustion. Learning these strategies and about resources that can help has allowed Victoria to pursue her career as a coach and consultant, assisting other individuals with disabilities to live whole lives. As a result of her fierce determination and belief that there is always a solution available for any challenge, no matter how daunting, Victoria has learned some important lessons – which she shared with us during this interview.???

“If we have that ‘I can do this’ attitude, there's nothing that can hold you back.” – Victoria Essner

As you will learn, Victoria's experiences taught her that a positive outlook can help us achieve anything. Victoria found ways to transcend life’s challenges and has helped hundreds of other individuals with disabilities and caregivers in need of support, thanks to the lessons she has learned along the way.

I’ve seen the benefits of hospice care – enabling terminally ill individuals to maintain their dignity at the end of life and focus on precious quality time with loved ones – firsthand. My wonderful mother – Vivian Martin – was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer at the age of 86, in December 2022, and she passed away just a few months later. I am grateful to her husband, Larry, for providing loving care during these final months, and I know how stressful and exhausting this time was for him. As a result of this recent experience, Victoria’s work and wisdom resonate with me.

Victoria has gathered some of the lessons she has learned during this challenging time into a free guide, “Caregiving Made Easier: Essential Checklist for Caregivers,” which she will be glad to send you if you click here and provide your email address – free resource here .?

Helping inspiring individuals like Victoria Essner,? who seek to share their wisdom with others and help those in need, has been the driving force of my 35-year media career.?
