Tom Lahouse to run for homeless in Houston and Star of Hope

Tom Lahouse is running in the Houston Marathon to raise money for the homeless in support of Star of Hope:

Hope for the Homeless…One Mile at a Time

The phrase stems from Star of Hope’s vision: Ending homelessness … one life, one family at a time. I am running the Houston Marathon and I have a vision for sending a message of Hope to Houston’s homeless. The face of homelessness we often encounter is the person at the busy intersection holding a cardboard sign. However, the reality of homelessness is most often a mother and her children with nowhere else to go.

            “The poor are shunned by all their relatives-

                        how much more do their friends avoid them!

            Though the poor pursue them with pleading,

                        They are nowhere to be found.”

Star of Hope provides shelter, food, emotional and spiritual counseling, education, job training, life-skills training all the while restoring Hope to the hopeless.

I am looking for 10,000 people to join me in this fundraising effort. Why 10,000? To make a powerful statement of hope to the homeless and to Star of Hope: "We care for you and we stand with you as you rebuild your life.” So, please give $10 or more by clicking on the donation link and please ask your friends to join you in doing so and ask them to ask their friends. $100,000 raised through this appeal would shatter the Chevron Houston Marathon fund raising record but the real goal is 10,000 people demonstrating their commitment to provide hope to the homeless.
