Tokenization: It’s Finally Happening
For years, the crypto industry has been talking about tokenization. And now it's finally freaking happening.
Tokenization – converting a valuable asset like cash or real estate to a blockchain-based token – is currently all the rage, with global financial institutions rolling out pilot projects.
UBS has launched UBS Tokenize. JP Morgan has launched its own tokenization ecosystem. And Visa is now allowing banks to issue their own tokens.
That's right: Visa.
Yes, the world’s largest payment network has launched a platform to allow banks to issue their own tokens on Ethereum.
In this update, we’ll briefly explain how tokenization works, why this is the future of crypto, and how you can invest intelligently in this trend.
Should You Invest in Filecoin (FIL)? Charts, Stats, Analysis for 2024
Juan Benet was a visionary entrepreneur who saw an opportunity: there were millions of computers connected to the internet with unused hard drive space. What if users could “rent” storage space on those computers, at a fraction of the cost of cloud providers?
In a 2014 white paper titled "Filecoin: A Cryptocurrency Operated File Storage Network," Benet laid out his revolutionary concept: a decentralized file system where users could offer to share their unused hard drive space, and be rewarded in cryptocurrency.
Just one year later, Benet's newly founded company, Protocol Labs, introduced the InterPlanetary File System (IPFS), a peer-to-peer protocol designed to challenge the traditional HTTP protocol. IPFS promised a faster, safer, and more open web, moving away from centralized servers.
2017 marked a turning point for Filecoin, as it launched an Initial Coin Offering (ICO). The timing was excellent: raising over $200 million, Filecoin's ICO became one of the largest in history.
Finally, in 2020, the moment Filecoin enthusiasts had been waiting for: Filecoin's mainnet went live. In the years since its launch, Filecoin has become one of the most popular and widely used decentralized storage protocols in the world.
But can it hold its lead long-term? Here's our analysis.

Chart of the Week
Blockchain gaming has been one of the best performing sectors in 2024, with $1.1 billion in investment flowing into the sector in Q2 2024 alone. Web3 gaming now accounts for 28% of all DeFi activity, and one of the primary beneficiaries has been?Ronin, the Ethereum-compatible blockchain?that was created specifically for gaming.
After seeing its Daily Active Users crash to 20,000 from late 2022 through late 2023, Ronin has increased to 1.4 million DAU as of this writing. Of course, that has also increased fees and revenues for the chain, leading to a 300%+ increase in the price of the native RON token over the past year.
With the global gaming market comprised of hundreds of millions of users that generated roughly $347 billion in revenue in 2022, it's fair to say that there is plenty of upside potential for Ronin.
Ronin is at the forefront of blockchain gaming. Its parent company, Sky Mavis, launched the sector with Axie Infinity, and while that title has waned in popularity, it has been followed by another hit blockchain game: Pixels (see our writeup here).
Plus, the company recently announced a new grant program that has welcomed seven new gaming studios into the fold, promising more blockbuster hits in 2025 and 2026.
As Ronin continues to dominate, it could become the top blockchain in a multi-billion dollar blockchain gaming industry. (Download our Ronin investor scorecard here.)
