Together we soared: Highlights of our 2023 achievements

As we embark on a new year with high-flying aspirations to further elevate your aviation analytics, let's take a moment to reflect on the exciting milestones we accomplished together in 2023. These achievements, both in technology and business, are a testament to our commitment to empowering you and your companies with valuable aviation insights:

  • 25 satellites sent to orbit across 5 launch campaigns.
  • 2 next-generation satellites with an ADS-B payload, inter-satellite links, on-board propulsion systems, and advanced antenna design.
  • One of the first to successfully qualify, demonstrate, and operationalize optical inter-satellite link technology on a nanosatellite.
  • Partnership with ESA to design and demonstrate what will be the most advanced and reliable system for aircraft surveillance.
  • Flights Live & Events API release?providing you with a customizable near-real-time flight activity overview, flight status, and events without heavy data processing.
  • Updated Flight Report v3.0 offering?a rich combination of flight and schedule information, including actual takeoff and landing timestamps.

A new era in air traffic surveillance: Inside the EURIALO’s satellite constellation and data innovation for resilient and safer aviation infrastructure

In today's dynamic aviation industry, there is a pressing need for an innovative solution capable of real-time tracking, verification, and validation of aircraft through telecommunication signals, regardless of their location on Earth. And even more – to reduce the strain on local stations during periods of high flight traffic, all while facilitating seamless global adoption without requiring additional equipment on every plane.

Spire Aviation, in partnership with the European Space Agency and DLR, is actively developing this independent system, known as EURIALO. This groundbreaking system will not only be more efficient and accurate but also backward compatible, harnessing the existing telecommunication signals emitted by all aircraft to provide precise and reliable tracking of their locations.

Buckle up! Aircraft turbulence is getting worse

As climate change and atmospheric dynamics continue to influence our skies, understanding the complexities of these turbulent patterns becomes ever more crucial for safer and smoother journeys. Surprisingly, severe turbulence has surged by a staggering 55 percent over the last 44 years, with the total annual duration now reaching 27.4 hours, a significant rise from 17.7 hours back in 1979.

Dive into our latest blog where we explore the relationship between turbulence and climate change.

Unleash the power of precision in aviation operations with ON and OFF Block Times

Our upgraded Flight Report v3.0 employs a sophisticated in-house algorithm to distinguish individual flights or flight segments while also highlighting real observed take-off and landing times through ADS-B tracking.

The v3.0 release also features advanced analytics with the calculation of ON and OFF block times with gate and runway detection per flight, helping you determine airline OTPs and accurate aircraft movements around a given airport.
