"Together, We Made a Difference: A Year of Achievements and Gratitude – GSA's 2023-2024 Journey"
Mohammed Arbaaz Parvez, PMP?
MEng- Construction Engineering and Management | Master's in Structural Engineering
As I complete my mandate as President of the Graduate Students' Association, Concordia University (GSA) at 加拿大肯高迪亚大学 for the academic year 2023-2024, I am filled with immense pride and gratitude. It has been an honor to serve and represent the vibrant and dynamic graduate student community. Together, we have achieved remarkable milestones and made lasting impacts.
Throughout this year, our executive team worked tirelessly to enhance the graduate student experience. Here are some key highlights of our accomplishments:
Organized an array of events throughout the year, from the Mont-Tremblant trip to the project management crash course to the chess, ensuring there was something for everyone
In addition to our numerous achievements, we facilitated significant representation for graduate students across various areas of university affairs. This year, we made 29 crucial appointments to standing committees and sub-committees, ensuring that the voices of graduate students were heard and their interests were advocated for. These appointments included roles in the STRIVE Task Force and Steering Committee, the Academic Freedom Committee, and the Healthcare Advisory Committee, among others. Graduate student representatives were also appointed to key university bodies such as the Dean of Fine Arts committee, the Senate Research Committee, the Academic Planning and Priorities Committee, and the Library Committee. This extensive representation across the university demonstrates our commitment to involving graduate students in decision-making processes and enhancing their academic and campus life.
I am immensely proud of our exceptional executive team, whose dedication has driven our success throughout the year. Akilan Anbarasu , our Vice President External, played a crucial role in representing the GSA beyond the university campus, strengthening relationships with external organizations. Raghulkanna Lakshmanan , our Vice President Academic and Advocacy, ensured the academic rights and welfare of graduate students, actively shaping academic policies and providing essential support to students. Rutu Parikh Parikh, our Vice President Mobilization, was vital in enhancing student engagement with different digital platforms. Gayatri Tangudu, who was our Vice President Internal, efficiently managed financial activities, ensuring the smooth functioning of our organization. Together, their unwavering commitment and hard work have significantly contributed to the well-being and success of our graduate student community.
Our dedicated staff members, Enmanuel Domingo De Jesus Reyes , Julia Pascoal , Sadra Yeganeh , and Alba Clevenger , played crucial roles in these successes. Their commitment and hard work were instrumental in advancing the goals of the GSA.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to 加拿大肯高迪亚大学 University for their unwavering support in every aspect of our endeavors. The university's commitment to listening to our voices and addressing our concerns has been instrumental in our success. A special thanks to the Dean of student(DOS)-Concordia University for their constant guidance, President and Vice chancellor Graham Carr for his leadership and support, and Effrosyni (Faye) Diamantoudi Dean of Graduate studies for her invaluable assistance. Your collaborative spirit and dedication have significantly contributed to the welfare and advancement of the graduate student community, and we are profoundly grateful for your contributions.
As we transition to a new mandate, I encourage the next team to continue fostering these relationships and building on the foundation we have established. The journey has been challenging yet incredibly rewarding, and I am confident that the GSA will continue to thrive and support the graduate student community.
Thank you to all the graduate students for your unwavering support and for believing in us. Together, we have made a difference, and I look forward to seeing the continued growth and success of the Graduate Students' Association, Concordia University .
Here’s to the future! All the best new team Sai Abhinav Tadepalli Vijayraagavan Vijayathirupathi Venkata Sai Pavan Kumar Maniyambakam Duraipaandiyaan A P Aditya Thakkar
