Together we are changing the narrative

Covid19 can not be resumed by numbers of death or hospitalised patients, it is a societal, economical and public health problem. Four months ago we created the French Association #ApresJ20 - Association Covid Long France to give a voice and support the increasing number of patients that did not recover: Long Covid patients.

The past few weeks our association made some progress towards the #recognition #rehab and #Communication of long Covid.

• We took part in collaborative work with the Haute Autorité de Santé to establish the Rapid Guidelines for long Covid. Some of our comments were not taken but it is the first step towards better care for long Covid.

• We were invited by the Ministry of Health to present the patients need and our propositions of actions such as a larger and more transparent communication on long Covid based on symptoms, creation of long Covid rehab centre and funding for research

• We supported Patricia Miralles resolution for long Covid that was unanimously accepted by the parliament setting the stones for concrete actions. We will keep working with deputies and pledge for actions to be taken.

Long Covid, the patient made term, representing the fluctuating and debilitating symptoms is now used largely in the media and by the government.

All of this would have not been possible without an inspiring team who despite their own long Covid worked tirelessly for equity, transparency and support for long Covid patient.

I am so grateful to be part of this collaborative project that allies doctors, researchers, deputies, government and patients for better health.

After almost 11 months of long Covid, and still not back to normal health, representing the patient's voice and calling for collaboration gives me sense and hope for brighter future.
