Together lets make an impact this EOFY

To our passionate and dedicated supporters, we are deeply grateful for your continued generosity towards UN Women Australia and programs around the world empowering women and girls on the path towards a gender equal future. As we approach the end of this financial year, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the immense challenges faced by domestic and international charities and the critical role we play in addressing them.

Over the past year, UN Women Australia has been at the forefront of providing support to women and girls affected by various global emergencies. From the devastating war in Ukraine to catastrophic earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, cyclones in Fiji, Vanuatu, Myanmar and Bangladesh and the ongoing challenges faced by women and girls in Afghanistan under Taliban restrictions. With so many women and girls in urgent need of support, our resources have been strained. Despite these challenges, we remain committed to our mission of achieving Global Gender Equality.

While our support in emergency situations is critical, we recognise that achieving lasting change requires us to also address the root causes of the gender gap. This means working to create pathways that enable more women to reach senior and leadership positions in corporations, ensuring equal representation on boards and in government leadership roles. Working with Governments to change laws that discriminate against women and girls and allow gender-based violence to continue and on the ground level to change attitudes around rigid gender roles. True gender parity can only be achieved when cultures and laws are transformed to ensure equality for all.

We are actively engaged in collaborative efforts with grassroots organisations globally and in Australia to bring about this cultural shift.?However, we need your help to amplify our impact and accelerate progress. As you consider your tax-deductible donations before the end of this financial year, we encourage you to remember how your donation today can make lasting change through our programs:

Support for Women and Girls in Emergencies

The ongoing efforts of UN Women in countries like Turkye, Syria, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Sudan, and Sri Lanka affected by crisis, aim to provide continued critical support to women and girls. Your donation will help us deliver essential services, promote resilience and empower women and girls to rebuild their lives in the face of adversity.

Markets for Change

Our successful Markets for Change program in the South Pacific Islands continues to empower and protect women market vendors through leadership programs, financial literacy initiatives, secure accommodation and cyclone resistant market facilities. With your donation, you can help improve the economic empowerment of women in our own backyard.

UN Trust Fund to end Violence Against Women

By supporting the UN Women Trust Fund, you can help provide sustainable funding to prevent violence against women and girls, improve access to vital services, and strengthen the implementation of laws and policies. The fund supports diverse programs globally, such as creating safer workplaces for domestic workers in India and Bangladesh, teaching women with disabilities in Tunisia about technology safety, and supporting lesbian, transgender and bisexual women in Albania.?Your contribution can make a tangible difference in the lives of thousands of women and girls.

UN Women Leadership Programs

We are dedicated to equipping women worldwide with skills and opportunities to step up into leadership roles. For example, in Pacific Island countries, where women’s representation in parliaments and local governments is significantly low, we are working to empower women, build their strengths, and prepare them for elected office. Your support can help us expand these vital leadership programs and bridge the gender gap in political and managerial positions.

Your contribution, no matter the amount will have a profound impact on the lives of women and girls, helping to create a more equitable and inclusive world for all. Together, we can strive towards achieving global gender equality and building a brighter future.
