In this together

In this together

Less than a month to go and we’ll meet in Mombasa for the Council and World Convention 2024.

The scenery is magnificent, and the programme is very promising. It will be inspiring to learn about leadership, new technologies, research, and the many things that keep us school leaders going these days. We’ll hear from exceptional speakers, but most of all from each other, as both events are first and foremost about meeting, sharing, having coffee, and realizing: ‘We’re all in this together!’

We welcome quite a few new members of ICP in Kenya. From different parts of the world, school leader organizations join our community, making our existence even more relevant. Of course, we are delighted to see membership grow; it enables us to play a bigger role for more school leaders and, in the end, for more students.

The role of school leaders worldwide is becoming more and more valued as the basis for quality education.

Working on SDG 4 (Sustainable Development Goals), different movements around the world call for the vision and involvement of school leaders. Both Peter Kent and I were honoured to represent the voice of school leaders on behalf of ICP at various events around the world, from organizations such as the UN, OECD, and the Global Enabling Sustainability Initiative (GeSI).

At those events, the words ‘We’re in this together’ ring out loud.

We face many challenges that can only be solved by listening, learning, exploring, and trying. How do we deal with the threat of polarization, the power of social media, and the use of AI in our daily lives? We will share more about our experiences in the magazine and at Council meetings.

For now, I wish you a very good summer, and if we meet in Mombasa, a very safe and pleasant journey to Kenya!
