Todd Terrell and the United Cajun Navy Team

During times of crisis, true leaders rise to the occasion. Todd Terrell is one such leader—someone who exemplifies resilience, compassion, and decisive action. As President of the United Cajun Navy, Todd has guided his organization to the forefront of disaster response and community support, ensuring aid reaches those in need when it’s needed most.

The 501(c)3 nonprofit United Cajun Navy stems from what began as a group of rescuers who banded together in 2005 when Hurricane Katrina struck New Orleans. Local residents came together with privately owned boats to rescue people stranded by Katrina were initially just known as the Cajun Navy. From those humble beginnings, it has evolved into a formidable volunteer-based organization, providing search and rescue operations, supply distribution, and support to disaster-affected communities. Whether in Louisiana, Texas, Florida, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, Georgia, Tennessee, or the Carolinas, Todd and his team have consistently answered the call to serve, proving the power of community-driven response.

What truly sets Todd’s leadership apart is not just his ability to mobilize volunteers but his steadfast commitment to prioritizing people over processes. When traditional systems are overwhelmed or unable to respond quickly enough, Todd and his team step in—often putting themselves at risk—to ensure that no one is left behind.

The United Cajun Navy operates with a guiding principle: neighbors helping neighbors. This philosophy has allowed Todd to build a network of volunteers that extends across state lines, rallying boats, vehicles, and personnel to create a cohesive force capable of making a real impact. Under his leadership, the organization has spearheaded relief efforts far beyond Louisiana, establishing itself as a critical resource in times of disaster.

A Message from Todd Terrell

UPDATE:

“We’ve always prided ourselves on being a self-sufficient group that doesn’t rely on donations for every operation. However, due to the ongoing crises in Tennessee and North Carolina, we’ve had to expand our air operations—one of the most costly parts of our work. We’re also adding to our fleet of trucks and transport vehicles to ensure a steady flow of supplies from our Baton Rouge headquarters to the affected areas. Our followers have been incredibly generous over the years, and they know that when we do request monetary support, it’s because it’s truly needed. This time, it’s critical. Any donation , big or small, will immediately be put into expanding our air and logistics operations to continue providing the help our communities need.”

Looking to support the United Cajun Navy and want to assist in getting your donations to Todd and his team, please let me know how I can help facilitate that process. Monetary contributions and resource donations can be made through the United Cajun Navy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Your generous support not only aids in disaster response efforts but may also qualify you for a tax write-off. Every contribution makes a significant difference in the lives of those affected by disasters. Thank you for considering this opportunity to make an impact!

Years back, during/after Katrina. Hearing of their work & nicknamed "Cajun Navy". They filled a large void back then & excellent with 'local knowledge". Outsiders getting around the Bayous and back waters, few could do as well. It was similar to watching the big evac of NYC 2001 09 11 The people of the NY Harbour region all came together to support one another. Strangers helping strangers and looking for nothing in return. Difference between 1 human & another? The mind & how used... The difference one can make in the lives of others. Amazing
