Today's versus tomorrow's problems
I’m in the process of moving out of my current place and there’s a laundry list of things to do: movers to contract, things to clean and pack, utilities that need to be shut off, etc.?
One thing that has been particularly helpful for maintaining my sanity throughout this process is distinguishing today’s problems versus tomorrow’s problems.?
The list of things to do may be lengthy and overwhelming at a glance, but the reality?—?thankfully?—?is that on any given day there’s only a handful of things that actually make sense to do.?
So every day I choose focus on the 2–3 things that I need to do to stay on track and let that be enough. Everything else is in the periphery and out of mind.?
This approach brings me back to Franklin Roosevelt’s simple and rather reassuring advice that I frequently revisit: “Do what you can, with what you’ve got, where you are.”?
