?? Crossover Day, observed today, March 6, 2025, is a pivotal point in the Georgia General Assembly's legislative session. It marks the deadline a bill must pass its originating chamber—either the House of Representatives or the Senate—to remain viable for consideration in the current session. There are a few bills we are monitoring, including bills regarding the creation of a music office, admin changes/edits to the film incentive, post production and rural incentive and AI or “no fakes” legislation.
As noted before, every major interest group holds special events to draw attention to their issues. GPP is hosting film week this month and yesterday was Tourism Day at the Capitol orchestrated by the Georgia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureau. On Friday, we attended Entertainment Tourism day facilitated by ETAG and B.I.G. Entertainment Network. (Pictures and more.) More regarding industry bills and coverage of these events coming soon.
?? We are off to SXSW. We have two major events this weekend. Our “Made in Georgia” panel features Gannon Murphy of Cinelease, Drew Sawyer of Moonshine, Joel Slocumb of Columbus, GA and award-winning writer, director and filmmaker Deborah Riley Draper. (Info)
?? Make plans to attend the Metro Atlanta Film Summit. We will be there covering the incredible panels and programming put together by the Cherokee Office of Economic Development. The event is on March 14. Many industry insiders will be sharing at the event including Randie Brooks, Kristy Clabaugh, John Thomas, Gideon Amir, Peter Stathopoulos, Lee Thomas, Lynda Smith, Mike Clark and others. More Info.

Formerly of Apple TV, Mike Mosallam has been named Chief Operating Officer “With Shadowbox’s growing operations, it was essential to put in place a leadership team that has a deep understanding of production needs. Mike and his team have the deep industry knowledge necessary to thoughtfully adapt our service offerings to meet current and future market conditions,” said Peter Rumbold, CEO of Shadowbox Studios.
