Today's Question from Souls of Your Past, and a Gift to You

Autumn is here, and as the leaves turn into their colorful show, we often reflect on our year so far and the holidays ahead.

On Halloween, we might think of the legacy of those who came before us.

In my native France, we celebrate Halloween alongside All Saints Day.

On November 1st, we visit the tombs of our ancestors, bringing a flowerpot of chrysanthemums?—?mums that are resilient to the early frost.

Halloween originates back to an ancient Celtic festival when it was believed that the souls of the dead returned home. Bonfires were lit to ward off wandering spirits.

For me, this time of year feels personal.

My mother passed when I was eight years old, and this season always brings back her memory. When I’d visit her tomb with flowers, I’d sit down, and we’d begin our internal conversation. I’d imagined she would ask questions like:

“Are you doing what you love with your life?”

These days, I live miles away from my mother’s resting place, so I order the flowers to be delivered. But we still chat. You know, ghosts can travel too?:-)

It might sound a little out there, but these conversations have always helped me.

So, for Halloween, I want to ask you the same:

“Are you doing what you love with your life?”

Are you dreaming of more freedom and meaning in your work and in your life? When I realized that working for others made me miserable, I started my own business.

And never looked back.
