Today's Protagonist: A Brief History into the Birth of Film, Part II
Part 9: A BRIEF HISTORY INTO THE BIRTH OF FILM, PART II
Our secondary character in this short, yet informative, newsletter is:
Fort Lee.
When you say Hollywood, your mind immediately races to the white letters in the mountainside, palm trees, and the Pacific Ocean--
But Fort Lee was all the rage when the movies first hit the town.
What's Fort Lee?
In the 1910s, moviemaking was a way of life in this neighborhood.
D.W. Griffith, Mary Pickord, Mack Sennett, classic masters of the craft, brought tons and tons of actors to herald the 'nickelodeon era' and make the early days of filmmaking look like a breeze.
This is where tax revenues from studios and labs paid the bills...almost like today.
What does this mean for me?
You're standing on hallowed ground.
Even though some say they left their heart in San Francisco, this side of the Mississippi is where it all started.
And now, we're bringing it back.
This is about making a profit, and making history, but more importantly, this is about going back to our roots.
Here in New Jersey, we can all be a part of something greater and richer than what we've dreamed of.
Dreams, you say, are the stuff of the movies.
Well, then you're in the right place.
The more you know.
It's time to?make?movie magic?happen.
We’ll see you in the credits.
