Today's hard truth is about your fucking email list.

DON'T PUT PEOPLE ON IT IF THEY DIDN'T SUBSCRIBE.

Get someone's business card? Awesome. DON'T PUT THEM ON YOUR EMAIL LIST.

Meet someone at an event? Kudos for being social and I hope the cream puffs from Costco were tasty. DON'T PUT THEM ON YOUR FUCKING EMAIL LIST.

Putting someone who didn't OPT-IN to your email list ON your email list...jesus. What do I call this -- digital rape? You're forcing yourself into someone's digital home. An inbox is a very intimate and permission-oriented place.

What you're doing is breaking and entering. No one gave you a fucking key so you don't get to waltz through the front door unannounced. You have to wait at the front door and knock, just like everyone else.

No means no. "Take my business card" doesn't mean yes. "I emailed you once" doesn't mean yes.
