Today's Not To Do List....
I have a "To-Do" List every single day...
Today, I've decided to created a "Not to-do" List... it's more important to me right now...
Here it is:
1. DON'T have 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 2 evening meals... 1 will do..
2. DON'T complain about the Government actions surrounding the Pandemic.
Nobody, not one single country was prepared for this... It might be trendy and on topic to bitch about the Conservatives, but right now, that says more about you than anything else. Now is NOT the time, fucking recognise that.
3. DON'T home school your kids.
That is NOT what you are doing, you didn't plan this, you aren't prepared, and you are not a teacher in this setting... Home schooling takes planning, preparation and a parental resolve like never seen before...
Your child's mental health is the most important thing in their fragile little world right now. Let them play, let them breathe, and enjoy their smile. They are the only people you can hug at present, and you are the only people they want to hug, ever.
4. DON'T judge anything like this is a normal time.
Nothing is the same, nobody is the same. All the shit we normally complain about, needs to be forgotten right now. It just isn't important, pick it up once we know what the future looks like. We are in the middle of a global pandemic, none of us have ever dealt with anything like this before, remember that.
5. DON'T ignore social distancing guidelines.
You are not that person, don't be that person. It can happen to you, you can kill people if you spread it.... respect the key workers who are having to deal with this mess, and be thankful you can still breathe.
6. DON'T watch too much T.V.
It can be damaging. You are being given a very unique opportunity, breathe some fresh air, take some time to think and be present in your thoughts, you might even find a different version of yourself that you quite like :)
7. DON'T pay too much attention to anyone other than those people in your household and family, when all is said and done, we don't need a global pandemic to tell us it is family that matters, nobody else.
8. DON'T be too hard on yourself.
You are also facing something terrifying that you have never dealt with before, and your reactions and behaviours during this time are not going to be standard, they are driven by worry, stress and fear, allow yourself to feel a bit differently right now... it's normal...
Give yourself a break... cry if you have to, shout if you have to... it's fine, it will pass... Know when to apologise, and move on
Stay safe all
My ears are always open for you.. reach out x
