Today is World Wetlands Day
World Wetlands Day is celebrated each February to raise awareness about wetlands. This day also marks the anniversary of the Convention on Wetlands.
The theme for 2023 is 'Wetland Restoration', highlighting the urgent need to prioritize wetland restoration.
In the last 300 years, nearly 90% of the world's wetlands have been degraded; we are losing wetlands three times faster than forests.
Given the importance of these areas for sustainable development, actions must be taken to change this situation. Research is recognized as an essential lever for achieving the SDGs. In this regard, research must be at the forefront of providing solutions by creating actionable knowledge and informing policies and practices that support the achievement of the global objectives through.?
In this sense, from 2012 to 2018, in collaboration with the sandec/Eawag, Institut des Sciences de l'Environnement and the National Office for Sanitation of Senegal (ONAS), he conducts, within the framework of my thesis, under the supervision of Dr. Linda Strande, Prof. Cheikh Kouchner, and Prof. M. Kouchner. Linda Strande, Prof. Cheikh Diop, Dr. Mbaye Mbèguèrè and Seydou Niang, extensive research on the treatment of faecal sludge with nature-based technologies by natural way with a view to reuse by-products in urban agriculture.
The focus of his research in sustainable and viable environmental engineering is to increase the knowledge and application of processes that provide better protection of environment and human health in a context of developing countries. His work in this area included the selection of appropriate technology, the improvement of their treatment and production process, in order to implement viable and sustainable decentralized systems, which integrate and protect nature.
