Today is World Mental Health Day

One of the things we all have in common is the fact that we all know of someone who has or is suffering from a mental illness.  I am myself a military veteran who served in the Falklands war and in the first gulf war and in the SAS. My experiences during my military career and a very abusive childhood have recently had a dramatic effect on my mental well-being and I now struggle with PTSD. Depression and severe anxiety. As part of my recovery process, my psychiatrist suggest that I write about my experiences as part of my healing process. I took his advice and wrote my first book “Cupboard Boy” which is about my abusive childhood, and "Me and my black dog". Both of these books aim to educate people about how PTSD and Depression can have a dramatic and devastating effect on the sufferers’ lives and that of their families. Now that I have written it I wish to use It to highlight the effects of PTSD and how our military often get forgotten about once they take the uniform off. And having nowhere to turn to often take their own lives, as I myself tried to do on several occasions. I would politely like to ask you to share this post and help me raise awareness of the silent killer PTSD.

Thank You

Paul
