Today, we’re talking Stronger Starts, the menopause and perfecting the perfect order...

To our LinkedIn community,

Welcome to the third edition of our newsletter.

We’re going to introduce a couple of our amazing people who are making waves at Tesco, as well as a programme we’ve introduced to help children have a stronger start in life.

In this edition, you’ll hear about Kellie’s experience of surgical menopause and Alice's role as a Product Manager. But first, let’s talk Stronger Starts.

Happy reading.

Stronger Starts – helping children thrive

We all know that children need healthy food and exercise to build a strong foundation for life. Yet almost half of UK parents worry that their children won’t reach their potential because they don’t have enough access to healthy meals and opportunities to get active.

To help children have a stronger start in life, we partnered with Groundwork to create a new?£5.3m grant programme called Stronger Starts. Our goal? To give 1 million?children a Stronger Start by helping fund healthy food and fitness?activities that can improve their physical health and mental wellbeing -?from breakfast clubs to playground equipment, football kits to gardening?classes.

Lucky customers in 100 participating stores across the UK found a golden token worth £5,000 for a Stronger Starts project in the local community. The lucky customers who found the gold tokens decided who got the grant.

Supporting Kellie through surgical menopause

“Since sharing my experience at work, the support I’ve received has been incredible.”

After having a hysterectomy at 37, Kellie woke up in full-blown menopause. When she came back, work became a haven where she felt safe and supported by her colleagues.

Kellie has also used her experience to support colleagues going through menopause. We’ve amended our sickness policy to support menopause-related absence.

You can read more about Kellie’s story, here.
