Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.
I love to read.
Not a surprising fact, many people do. I also love to encourage others to read, mainly my son. Every night before bed, I read him a story. At the moment our top choice is either Elsa and the Mermit which was written by an amazingly talented ex-colleague of mine Suki Baynton or a Thomas the Tank Engine story.
I digress.
After winning the SME News, Best Virtual Assistant 2021, South East England award, I felt like I needed to give something back. As a business, I have supported different smaller charities and felt like I wanted to help the community around me. Initially, I wanted to plant some trees, however, this proved problematic.
After a little bit more thought, I decided to support and encourage others with the gift of reading.
I found out that last year 1 in 4 children left primary school unable to read this left me feeling extremely sad. To get lost in a book, or enhance your studies is such a key element to succeeding. These children are at risk of the damaging long-term effects of poor literacy.
I found a charity that aims to change that dynamic. Coram Beanstalk, support?children to learn to love reading. They equip people to help children switch onto reading, learn to read and become confident independent readers.
I have made a donation that will provide one term’s reading support to a child. In this small way, I hope that Dunn Virtually will be growing the leaders of our future.

3 年I love reading too. And what’s even better is it can help to reduce stress. Reading is one of my go to’s when I’m feeling a bit stressed and need a healthy escape from the pressures of life. And the , research has shown that reading as little as six minutes a day can reduce stress levels by 60%?
