Today I'm high-fiving...

Are you truly taking full ownership of your business??

When you think about that question, you are probably thinking about all the hours you put in. The behind-the-scenes work that nobody sees. The handling fires or dealing with difficult clients, and being proactive in your positioning. You might even think of the difficult conversations and the realisations that things need to change.?

And if this was your idea of ownership then I would agree with you if you said, yes.?

Because despite what a lot of gurus claim about people being lazy in business or not owning up to their mistakes, I tend to find the opposite.?

When it comes to women in business there are so many that are hypercritical of the work they do. They are aware of every flaw or imperfection. They make mountains out of molehills and try to constantly improve, to put in the long hours, to continue to strive to be the best, and always better. While there are some praiseworthy attitudes in the situations mentioned above, it's also the downfall of so many businesswomen.

When we focus too much on what we are lacking or the mistakes we’ve made in our journey we aren’t really taking ownership, we’re self-blaming. We are putting the burden of future success on ourselves and ignoring the things we’ve done right to get us to where we are today.?

A few weeks ago I talked about embracing the journey, all of your experience and owning your shit. But today I wanted to talk about the other side of the equation.?

We need to own our successes.?

When was the last time you truly celebrated your wins? I don’t mean simply saying congratulations and moving on, but went and celebrated? Maybe opened a bottle of expensive champagne or took yourself out for a nice dinner.?

When I mention celebrating your success is that something that you’ve ever done?

When I talk to some women they’ve never actually taken the time to celebrate any of their successes and they’ve been in business for years!?

If you’re feeling exhausted in your business, if you feel like you’ve lost your passion and the only thing you do is work, then now is the time to pause.?

Reflect back on every step you’ve taken.?

Write down every single win you’ve had. Block out the negative voice that tries to bring your failures or missteps into the picture and just let yourself celebrate you.?

Choose a celebration that feels right to you. It could be a dinner date with your loved ones, or it could be a drink with a close friend, but make sure you allow yourself to feel proud of your success, instead of pushing it to the side like so many of us are conditioned to do.?

And if you want to be in a room full of women celebrating each other’s success then chat to me. Because I have an Elevate mastermind coming up at the end of the month and I have a limited number of guest passes available if you are ready to embrace and celebrate your business journey.?

How will you be celebrating today?

It's disheartening to see a narrow focus on owning our responsibilities only in the context of our flaws and negative aspects. ??
