Today I started a new role at Microsoft, and it was for me a day of profound gratitude

Today I began a new journey at Microsoft.

Also, today I returned from my first trip in the new role, from the wonderful city of Dublin. While there, at our Microsoft office, I could see this message on the walls… and I did not resist from taking a picture of it:

?“Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken.” (Oscar Wilde)

This is so profoundly true. The opportunity and privilege of being ourselves is at the core of our culture at Microsoft. It is at the core of diversity and inclusion. It is at the core of our true happiness, at the end. We must always act for securing we have the freedom and possibility of being ourselves, while helping others in also having the same opportunity.

I personally think this (Being yourself) is at the foundation of a true "fearless organization", a concept we are encouraging and strongly supporting at Microsoft. The same is also at the center of any "growth mindset". We all learn, grow, develop our talents in specific and different ways, with our own feelings and our own uniqueness.

Clearly, we must be ourselves while we contribute to the success and happiness of others, both in our team and in other organizations. As stated in a famous quote by Michael Jordan: “Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence wins championships.” I hope I have done something positive in Italy and for Italy in these years… for sure… we won a few championships! :-) and - for sure - I had the opportunity to work in an AMAZING team!!!

I'm so profoundly grateful to all the colleagues, partners, clients, sincerely… friends, who worked with me in Italy in these years. I do not want to mention specific names here, just because I would never be able to make an exhaustive list of all the people who I feel the need to thank and to whom I will always be profoundly grateful.

From today I'm part of Western Europe at Microsoft, helping all our partners to work with our spectacular :-) Industry Solutions organization (once Microsoft Consulting) on Sustainability, Industry verticals, as well as our cross-industry offerings. After having worked on AI and digital transformation in Italy, I will do my best to do the same also in Europe.

I look forward to meeting and supporting all our teams and partners across Western Europe. Today I started a new role at Microsoft, and it was for me a day of profound gratitude.
