Today I have been a mailman for 32 years.

Today I have been a mailman for 32 years.

I'm a mailman, a for real 100% dedicated mailman. I work 6 days a week and have for many years. Within the last 32 years, I have been very lucky.

I got off work one day, caught a plane to Florida and was on the TV show called Star Search with Ed McMahon.

I got off work one day to drive to Pearl Sound recording studio near Detroit to do a session with producer Roy Cicala who suggested that i never stop playing my clear bass (google him, Roy is a legend).

I got off work one day and met the band at the old Tiger Stadium to perform our National Anthem on home plate.

I got off work one day to perform the National Anthem for the Detroit Pistons playoff game John Salley played my clear bass puzzled and amazed. The band met Bill Bonds there too.

We were invited to perform it again the following week, after work.

After work, i drove to Toledo to perform the National Anthem on harmonica for a Mudhens game for their Harmonica Giveaway Day.

I did that a lot there.

I'm a mailman.

I got off work to drive to the Detroit Opera House to rehearse with The American Ballet Theater to dance Romeo and Juliette Ballet. My daughter was a dancer and the flu knocked many out, so they needed extras.

After work, i "danced" in a real ballet. At the finale there were just 3 dancers on stage. Romeo, Juliette, and Chris Badynee with the full Detroit Symphony Orchestra too. I was to lie still and act dead while the lovely Juliette ballerina danced around me and leapt over me a few times. Deb and my mother were there to see.

Just because i cant dance doesn't mean i wont, I'm a mailman.

I got off work and drove to the Fox Theater to open for Foreigner, again with Robert Palmer, again and again with others.

I got off work to get to Pine Knob still in my mailman uniform to open for Eddie Money.

I got off work to scurry to The Palace of Auburn Hills to open for Kenny Loggins.

I got off work to drive to Nashville and won Best In Show at Summer NAMM.

I got off work to fly to NYC to be interviewed on MSNBC.

I got off work another day, flew back to NYC to gig at Carnegie Hall with the band Bash the Trash.

I'm a mail man.

I got off work to fly to L.A. to be featured on The History Channel regarding my box bass.

I got off work, turned on the TV to see Talk Soup spoof me about the History Channel show.

I got off work and drove to Pine Knob because Dwight Yoakums band invited me to play on stage.

I got off work to drive to the Ark in Ann Arbor because guitarist Sunny Landreth invited me on stage (holy moly!!!!). His bass player bought my box bass.

I'm a mailman.

While on the clock at work, Bass Player Magazine did a phone interview with me and featured my story on the magazine cover.

While at work, Beyonce's manager called me for permission to use film footage.

While at work, Brian Pastoria called me to talk about the recording session with his Grammy Award Winning brother and studio Harmony Park to participate in the Christmas in Detroit albums.

While at work i get texts and calls from Russia, Germany, England, Israel, Italy, Australia, South America, ect...

After work, i volunteer as the stage manager for the North American International Banjo Convention featuring the greatest jazz banjo players in the world.

I do it out of love for tin pan alley songs and river boat jazz.

I'm a mailman. I arrive to work about one hour early every day because i never really know whats going to happen.

I never missed a school event.

I was active in the YMCA Indian Princesses.

I took the kids and thier friends on campouts to give Deb a break.

I do volunteer work when possible and im usually available to share information.

I am active within other artistic media too.

My doctor says i have high blood pressure, suffer anxiety and I'm on meds for both, but my heart is healthy.

I believe that "everything is possible. But im a mailman so some things just take longer than others"

Those 32 years went by quick. My legs are fabulous.

I wear sensible shoes.
