This is one of my favorite affirmations, because it's basically NOTHING. Today you are going to engage in the infinitely rewarding practice of giving yourself a break.
That this means is that?every time?you feel a?should, a?must-do, a?didn't-do-good-enough, or any other thought that makes you feel like you aren't measuring up or doing it right, that you simply repeat the words "Today I give myself a break."?
It is SO IMPORTANT to learn how to take the foot off the pedal, loosen the screw, and give yourself a pass when you need it.
We so often forget this in our modern society—phones ring, text messages ding, emails pile up, there are dinners to cook and laundry to fold, books to read, kids to raise, events to attend. There are infinite ways to prove to ourselves we aren't measuring up, juggling all the balls right, doing enough. Which, of course, makes us miserable and stuck in the ‘not enough’ loop.
Today is a simple way to start learning how to let yourself off the hook—consciously. Every time you have guilt creep in over not producing, or hear yourself saying?I should?orI have?to about anything, or feel a compulsive need to act, or think you aren't doing enough; or think you're being lazy; take a breath and repeat the mantra, and remind yourself that allowing yourself to just be is one of the most extreme acts of self-care, and that being thing produces more of a result than any?doing-thing?will.
If you feel that this is underachieving, take it one step further and?do some bonus work: do something really sweet and nurturing, something you don't normally let yourself do.? Whatever it is that makes you go?Yes, please!?do it.?

2 年I'm much better at giving myself a break. I've learnt from my coaches last year that we get to slow down to speed up. It initially feels counterintuitive, because there's sooooo much to do. But it really does help focus the mind.
