Today I Awake, August 20, 2022

Today I awake with thoughts of direction. This one may not be what you think as it has to do with my artistic process :) I have often said that my creations sometimes direct me, by creating change I was not expecting, and adding a different outcome from my original idea. For me, this is the most beautiful process of artistic expression, as it is an organic process. Over the years, I have learned to listen to what I create and allow it to flow naturally, and not to put too much constraint on it. This is also true after I create something, as I always seem to see something new, every time I tell the story of its ideation to actualization and meaning behind everything. The one thing I will miss not being at Burning Man this year is talking with people about the artistic process, one of my favorite things to share. In this photo, take a look at the building process of my memorial sculpture, Life Within Itself, my first solo wood, metal, and acrylic lighting sculpture. Although Mr. Cheese (the cat in the photo) seems preoccupied, he is always curious to see what I will create next :)
