a. Indian producer-director-screenwriter and better known as the Father of Indian cinema: Dhundiraj Govind Phalke, better known as Dadasaheb Phalke (b. 1870). His debut film, Raja Harishchandra, which was the first Marathi cinema, was the first Indian movie in 1913, and is now known as India's first full-length feature. The Dadasaheb Phalke Award, for lifetime contribution to cinema, was instituted in his honour by the Government of India in 1969. The award is one of the most prestigious awards in Indian cinema and is the highest official recognition for film personalities in the country
b. Indian doctor, educationist, banker and philanthropist Tonse Madhava Ananth Pai popularly known as Dr. T A Pai (b. 1898). He is well known for building the university town of Manipal, Karnataka, India.
c. German mathematician and physicist Carl Gauss (b. 1777). He is referred to as the Princeps mathematicorum (“the foremost mathematician in Latin) and regarded as one of the greatest mathematicians of all time for his contributions to number theory, geometry, probability theory, geodesy, planetary astronomy, the theory of functions, and potential theory (including electromagnetism).
