Today's recipe: How to make a political campaign
The following article outlines a recommended structure for campaign design.
A political campaign is a way of dramatizing the confrontation between forms of administrating power. In this act, reactions of the candidates to anecdotal situations are presented in a symbolic way, answers that will inform the electorate (or will make them believe) about how the candidates would behave if they are part of the government. Thus, a campaign is an act of anticipation by the voter, who will imagine the link between him or her, their society and their representatives. In its structure, the campaign has three main points: the construction of the candidate social significance, the fight for the agenda of the debate that is installed during the election and, finally, the general rhythm of the act.
In the first case, the professional works on the role that the candidate will play in his electorate. This role involves trying to be a reference of efficiency and coherence with certain rules to become the appropriate representative for a specific context. In short, the point is the candidate meaning.
In the second case, the campaign focus has to be placed on the questioning of the electorate. The campaign is now trying to set the most beneficial agenda for the candidate, according to the previous candidate meaning. For example, if the social trauma of the voters sets an agenda where efficiency is required for the improvement of society, the suitable candidate will stand to benefit.
The third case is about rhythm. The campaign dynamics is contrary to the logic of the products: what is important in a campaign is the result of the rhythm to reach to the ecstasy at the voting moment. That is when it is required to have a solid representation of the candidate and to know specifically what issue is being voted on, in the voter's mind.
Lastly, a political campaign is a process of searching for collective meaning, a way of interpreting reality and building collective hope, both for the candidates and for the electorate.
