Today is Friday - Yesterday was Monday Time management challenges in a busy world…

If I was the sole supplier of a “36 hour day” I’d be the richest man in the world. I think I’d have little trouble getting someone’s attention if I were able to convince people that I have such an offering. Everyone needs a 36 hour day - not 24 hours to get it all done. 24 hours is never enough. Problem is, soon as you run out of the 36 hours, you’ll need more. There never seems to be enough time. The ‘busier’ you are, the faster time goes by - a key reason why today feels like Friday but yesterday was Monday.?
'Squeaky Wheel' Sales Prospects
These ‘buy-side’ types are the most difficult to do business with. They jump from one squeaky wheel to another. Whatever? fire is burning hottest at the moment gets their undivided attention. When something else ‘louder’ comes along, they jump over to that, and so on. Picture Tarzan swinging from tree to tree in the jungle.?
The difficulty with Squeaky Prospects is that they seem interested at first, but if you don’t close them right away, or confirm a clearly defined next step, your sales prospect is likely to ghost you after the meeting. Whenever you follow up, you’ll find they’ve swung over to working on a different ‘squeaky wheel’ - whatever fire is burning at the moment. Ugh - your timing is never right!
Tail-Chasing Salespeople - Too Busy to Make Money.
On the ‘sell-side’ of the business, here’s another group of busy-bodies that are too busy to make money. ‘Tail-chasing salespeople’. Too busy to make money - never have enough time. Perfect bunch of prospects for my 36 hour day offering. Getting them to care about their lost time is another challenge. ‘Tail-chasers’ always have an excuse for themselves as to why they never seem to have enough time - they’re busy.?
Need for Process...
Those that work the process await the result in peace. If you’re struggling for time, it’s your fault and it’s up to you to decide if lost time s a concern and take action. First step is to recognize what is taking up most of your time and then create a list of priorities in ranking order.? Then build a task process for how you will spend your time each day. In a word or two… STOP chasing your tail.
Pay Time vs. No Pay Time Activity...
In order to establish a working process for yourself, you first need to understand the difference between administrative (Non Pay Time) and revenue generating activities (Pay Time).?
The rent is due - making money is your #1 priority.?
Once you audit the amount of Non Pay Time activity then you can begin to de-prioritize those activities that do not make money. Now you’re left with a list of Pay Time activities that put money in your pocket. Make every effort to prioritize your Pay Time activities as well. Prioritization creates the process, and so long as you work the process, you’ll await the result in peace.?
