11/3/1911 a Brooklyn, New York (FDNY) firefighter “was killed when he fell through a skylight on the roof after tripping while fighting a very smoky and stubborn fire at the Veneer Barrel Company at 62 Water Street. He fell some thirty feet and striking beams on the way down. He suffered a fractured skull and died instantly for his injuries.”

11/3/1918 a Chicago, IL firefighter died after injuries he received “shortly after midnight on January 9, 1918. Firefighters from the Chicago Fire Department responded to a fire at the Chicago Theater, located at the intersection of West Chicago Avenue and Leavitt Street. The fire spread quickly through the theater and a 4-11 alarm was raised, but firefighting efforts were impeded by a heavy snowfall. Firefighters were operating in and around the theater when a wall collapsed, trapping eight firefighters in the debris… Four firefighters were killed instantly in the collapse, and four others suffered serious injuries. A fifth firefighter was successfully extricated from the debris, but he succumbed to his injuries on January 11. The sixth firefighter, assigned to Squad 2, died from his injuries on November 3, 1918.

11/3/1929 two Jackson, CA firefighters died in the line of duty.

11/3/1945 an Arlington, MA firefighter “died of the burns he sustained while operating at a fire when a flashover occurred.”

11/3/1954 a Philadelphia, PA firefighter “died as a result of injuries sustained October 28th, when he was caught in an explosion at the Berg laboratories at 1825-27 N. 5th Street. Five men were killed instantly in the blast, four died the next day, and the last two firefighters died November 26th, bringing the final death toll to 12.

11/ 3/1975 a Brockton, MA firefighter died “while commanding operations at Box 1312 for a fire at 59-65 Main Street on November 3, 1975. He had just led some 40 occupants out of the fire building and was directing operations inside the building when he came stumbling outside and collapsed into the arms of a firefighter.”

11/3/1999 a West Fork, Arkansas firefighter died at a fire in the utility easement behind a home. “A very small fire was found which was out except for a few burning embers. The firefighter attempted to stomp out the embers when he came into contact with a 7,200 volt electrical line that had been hidden from view in tall grass. The firefighter fell on top of the line and was removed by other firefighters. Emergency medical aid was provided and the firefighter was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.”

11/3/1974 a hotel fire killed eighty-eight in Seoul, South Korea, most were attending a late-night party on the hotel's top floor in a club. A guest fell asleep while smoking in bed on the sixth-floor of a seven-story hotel early on Sunday morning. “The nightclub was supposed to close at 2:00 a.m. according to local law, but more than 200 people were still dancing and drinking when the fire broke out an hour later. Although the club had fire exits, they were locked to prevent patrons from leaving without paying their bills. Panic ensued as people scrambled to find a way out amid the heavy smoke. Eight people found that the only exit was a window; they jumped and were killed by the fall.”

11/3/2017 two died in an overnight mobile home fire on Hardenbrook Lane, off Townsend Road in the DuClay neighborhood of Jacksonville, FL. ?The fire began about 2:15 a.m. Friday.

11/3/1908 Savannah, NY conflagration destroyed 21 buildings. “Among the buildings destroyed were two in which the polling places of the village were located.?When a fire spread toward these buildings the doors of the polling place were forced open and the ballots to be used at the election to-day were taken out.?Two of the register books were lost, however.??The County Clerk asked advice from Supreme Court Justice Sawyer regarding the election, and a special order was made designating two new polling places.”
