Today is the Day to Give Big Pittsburgh!

This is the view from the Hartman Initiative's clinic in the Dominican Republic. It's exciting to see the beauty all around this lovely nation. It's heartbreaking to know that not everyone has access to quality medical care. You have the power to change that.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, "more than 140 million people, that is a third of the total population, do not have access to health services", International Labour Organization's Executive Director Mary Chinery-Hesse.

Today is Giving Tuesday and the Hartman Initiative is participating in Give Big Pittsburgh's Day of Giving.

Our Students care so deeply for their communities. Daniela, a future doctor and Hartman Initiative Student, volunteers at a youth event in the Dominican. This Christmas, she will be distributing toys to children who are in the intensive care unit at a hospital in Santo Domingo.
