The Dow crosses 20,000 for the first time ever; Airbnb wants to buy a Venmo competitor, and more news.

The Dow crossed 20,000 for the first time in its 120-year history. The index has been flirting with the threshold since December, and it’s only been 42 days since Dow 19,000 — making this the second-fastest 1,000-point climb in the index’s history.

Cisco is acquiring AppDynamics for $3.7 billion — and just in the nick of time. AppDynamics, which monitors and manages application performance, was expected to go public this week as the first big tech IPO of 2017.

Toyota plans to add 400 jobs and invest $600 million in an assembly plant in Indiana, just weeks after the president criticized the carmaker for its plans to open a Mexico plant. It's a piece of Toyota's bigger plan to spend $10 billion over the next five few years to modernize its U.S. factories.

Airbnb is in talks to acquire Tilt, a Venmo competitor, for north of $50 million, reports The Information (paywall). Acquiring Tilt would give Airbnb a boost in the social payment space and help it learn about funding social events. It’s all part of Airbnb’s push to move beyond lodging and into experiences.

Target will introduce its own mobile payment service later this year for in-store purchases. It will introduce the feature into one or more of its own apps, Recode reports, following in the footsteps of other large retailers like Walmart and Kohl’s.

Usually the market crashes after a hockeystick like climb. This hasn't happened this time.

The price to earnings ratio is around 26 which is historically very high But history seems inapplicable to today It is interesting to see 2 predominant views on the stock market 1. It will continue rising at times dramatically 2. It will crash some time in 2017
