The might of America was focussed on a small island most had never heard of before. We did it to bring the best of what America is all about and to free a hostage population and bring the light of Democracy to them.

It, like Normandy, was truly distillation of our National character.

We came. We cleared. We took casualties and we left.

There is no better Civics lesson.
