Today (11am EST): Covid-19 Biosecurity best practices on mining sites - Engaging with workers, local stakeholders and communities

LATIN AMERICA - MINING, INFRASTRUCTURE AND ENERGY SECTORS (11:00am – 12:00pm every TUESDAY, starting Tuesday, April 7th)

In many of our offices, we gather around the coffee machine to refuel ourselves and catch up on developments in quick chats with colleagues.

Obviously, for the time being, this will no longer be possible. To help you stay abreast of developments and trends, every week we’ll be hosting free teleconferences for specific industry sectors in Latin America.

Each of our practice leaders will host and moderate these coffee chats, allowing us to exchange news, ideas, strategies and more, as we seek to understand the impact of coronavirus on our industries and plan for what’s next.

Our fourth mining/energy/infrastructure coffee chat will present COVID-19 mitigation and biosecurity best practices on mining sites.

We will start with a fireside conversation with Alberto Casas (First Quantum Minerals) to detail how the company addressed the death of a worker and the exfiltration of 2000 employees at Minera Cobre Panama.

We will then continue with a presentation of best biosecurity practices and a discussion on how to engage with workers and communities, thanks to a partnership between AMI and the Colombian Mining Engineers Association (AIMC).

Finally, we will discuss with Dario Zegarra (Mina Antamina) how Antamina faces the spread of the virus at their Peruvian mining operation.

As we did for the first three opus of our coffee chat, we will keep each presentation short in order to optimize discussion time.
